Kevin originally observed this optical behavior during his middle school years and created ShinyTouch, employing an external camera to develop a touch recognition system requiring minimal configuration. Our objective was to refine this concept into a compact form that would function without additional cameras. Our solution involved installing a miniature mirror adjacent to the laptop's integrated camera, enabling the lens to capture the screen surface from an acute downward angle. This configuration permits the camera to detect finger movements above or in contact with the display, with subsequent visual data processing converting these observations into touch inputs.
